Welcome to College of Design and Built Environment (CDBE).

The College of Design and Built Environment was established during the 1400 – 1401 (1980-1981) academic year to meet the large demand for professionals in the construction industry, resulting from the extensive ongoing construction program throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The College was established to bring together the academic programs that are mainly concerned with the built environment, both natural and man-made and to prepare students for professional practice in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management and City Planning. The College has four departments: The College has four departments: 1. Architecture and City Design, 2. Architectural Engineering and Construction Management, 3. Civil and Environmental Engineering, 4. Integrated Design Department (ITD).

CIVIL AND ENVIRONMENT ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is one of four departments within the College of Design and Built Environment at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. It is also one of the oldest departments offering a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Currently, the department has two undergraduate programs: one in Civil Engineering Science (CE) and the other in Applied Civil Engineering (ACE). In addition to the Bachelor of Science (BS) degree programs, the department also offers MS, MEng. (Master of Engineering) and PhD degree programs. There are four disciplinary options: structures and materials, geotechnical, water and environmental, and transportation. Each option is well-supported by courses, laboratories, required infrastructure and human resources.
